Learning the hard way is more beneficial in the long run, but mind you that the "long-run" isn't possible for most people if they're not having fun doing it. It's more fun when it's easier. Either way, if you keep at it, with or without the stickers, you'll arrive at the same destination.

Just found your channel. I'm just about to get my PA system. I've discovered the looper function on my HX Stomp (and that you can separate the play/rec, stop and undo functions onto different buttons. Great!). Anyway, I started looping a couple of songs and I'm having a fine old time of it. My question is this: Do you loop on every song, or do you mix it up. I have a massive repertoire. Way more than I need to start playing - which is great. However, I'd mainly like to loop on songs with a solo part, but some songs I'd actually not like to loop at all. Would you recommend against that or..?

Here in the US the standard 3 hour gig pays between $200-$300 for a solo acoustic. If you’re playing a private gig it’s $1000. I will never play for less than $200 regardless of it’s a 2 hour or a 3 hour gig.

This was really great. You have a knack for teaching because you link theory to practical learning in bite-sized “a-ha” chunks. I never thought I would need a creative songwriting class, because I’m an amateurish guitarist, but I now completely see the value to understand how these concepts are linked. I’m very interested now.

Watching you do this was… amazing. I’ve never seen this done, and I thought it would be so complicated but you had it nailed within 20 seconds. May I recommend something? A series of videos, perhaps in their own section on your page, illustrating how you do this with a variety of songs. I feel like I could learn more about music theory in a half-dozen of these videos than dozens and dozens of videos about theoretical music theory. Thank you!

This totally makes sense. But how do you learn the “musicianship” if all we’ve ever used is tablature? I know my basic chords a few of the major scales, and I can even tell you how many sharps a few keys have. So it’s not a lot of theory. But I can read tabs with the best of them. So how do I go from a low level of musicianship to understanding it well enough to work out my own songs? What I need to learn specifically is a mystery to me.
